Heart-Eyes Emoji

I’ve been wearing prescription glasses since I was 12 years old. That is genuinely decades of being bespectacled. Unlike some, I actually enjoy wearing glasses tremendously. Sure, there are times when I think contact lens are the way to go (i.e. working out, fancy dates). But for the majority, I love wearing glasses and if you invest in a couple of pairs like I have, you can consider them as fashion accessories to add to the look of your outfit.

I’m a big believer in having an eyewear wardrobe!

If you are a four-eyed person like me, it’s absolutely life changing. Being able to mix and match your outfits with your glasses will just add that extra bit to make you look 100%.

The ones I am currently obsessing over are my MCM glasses from their new eyewear collection that launched September 2015. MCM is a German fashion brand best known for their iconic studded leather bags covered in their signature logo. On top of that they have done amazing footwear and their luxury clothing brand is internationally recognised, especially popular in Korea. This time, MCM has expanded their range of eyewear to include some gorgeous vintage inspired prescription glasses with their own little twist.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!

I first saw these in a regular optical shop in a heartland mall. So I would assume that these are quite widely available. Their price range is similar to any luxury brand eyewear such as Burberry, Coach and Raybans. However, not extortionately expensive like Oliver People, Tom Ford and Miu Miu. So for luxury eyewear, I would consider this mid-range.

The collection features thick frames and modern twists to classic shapes. I tried on so many! Because of their thicker frames, I would suggest trying them out before purchasing as the shapes look different on than they do off. They are not as straight forward to purchase as something like Raybans that seem to have a more universally flattering shape.

Untitled-1 copyThe one I went with is the MCM2600A model (S$259).

It has large oversized lens and a medium thickness in frame with the most gorgeous taupe/tan gradient. This style comes in other colours too, including black, brown and even purple. These feature a more rounded shape despite being oversized, which I love! The sides are the same thickness as the frames and is accented with a long gold stud that is engraved with “MCM“. A luxurious and sophisticated touch that really elevated the look of these glasses.

When choosing your glasses, you want to think about not only the look you are going for, but also what are the undertones of your skin and how versatile the shape is for your daily outfits. This particular one is able to look casual and “fancy” at the same time and I love that about it. It suits most outfits, save for maybe a ball gown.

But once again, glasses are so highly personal. It is a definite case of “You do you“.

This sturdy piece is going to get a lot of wear from me. Though I am lusting over pieces that I saw in the Garrett Leight’s collection. Unfortunately for us, they don’t sell it in Singapore. So until I figure out how to get my greedy hands on a pair of those.

I am content with this gorgeous pair! (for now)

Kindle Joy

Some might be rolling their eyes at the “Kinder Joy” pun I just made on the title, but it would’ve been a crime for me NOT to have used it. Especially when we are talking about the joys of having a Kindle.

Now, imagine having your entire book shelf compressed into the dimensions of a mini notebook. That is what a Kindle is. This e-reader was introduced by Amazon.com back in 2007 and has come a long way since. We are now into the 7th generation of the Kindle e-reader, much like other popular electronic devices such as iPhones. This genius device was built under the premises of portability, convenience and space saving possibilities for all you book lovers out there. Me being one of them.

Behold the Kindle Paperwhite (3rd Generation)!

DSC00202 copy2

DSC00265

This baby is slim and tiny as it can be without compromising your reading experience. It’s smaller than an iPad Mini 4 with a 6 inch screen and certainly lighter in weight as well. The ‘Paperwhite’ edition is the version that has a low-power LED light built into the screen to allow the reader to control the contrast and brightness when reading. A regular Kindle would just have a non-glare ‘E-ink‘ display that would still require a night light, if you would like to read in the dark. This is probably the main reason I would pick the ‘Papaerwhite‘ over others in the Kindle family. The font is also customisable in terms of size and style, so readers can make them larger if preferred.

At first, I have to admit, I was not a big fan of readers. Somehow the idea of making reading a “tech” experience made every cell in my body cringe. As an avid reader, I enjoy the experience of reading in its entirety. I love browsing through shelves and shelves of books in a bookstore. Feeling the cover of the book, physically flipping through the pages and we all know that “new book” scent. It brings me such happiness, as it does many others. Hence why I was so aghast by the idea of e-readers. With more and more local bookstores closing down (RIP Borders, you were my jam) , I was worried that buying physical books were becoming less of a norm and more of a novelty. And that they would eventually be treated like CDs. Not so much a necessity as it is for collectors purposes.

As a more rational adult, I have opened my mind to the inevitability of technology being integrated in every aspect of our daily lives. Also, I am open to the many pros of having an e-reader. Not only will it help declutter your house, e-books are an eco-friendly option with zero trees being chopped down for our reading pleasure. Furthermore, I’m sure every Harry Potter fan understands the struggle of carrying their 1000-paged “Order of the Phoenix” around. That beast can be used as weights for very nerdy bicep curls.

DSC00218

The Kindle is all about minimalism.

With built in wifi, you can easily browse the Amazon bookstore website, purchase and download an e-book instantly at very reasonable prices, much lower than physical books. So not only do you save space in your bag and home, you also save money in the long run. Furthermore, if you are a jet-setter and often find yourself travelling a lot, you will appreciate the lightness of a Kindle so much more. You might need more than one reading material during a long haul flight, and this Kindle is able to provide that without costing you the luggage weight limit.

Safe to say I am a major fan of my new Kindle and I find myself more excited to read books after being in a major reading rut. I rejoice at the fact that I am still able to read my books as I commute, whilst carrying a smaller cross-body bag. I also enjoy the highlight and note function as I am someone who loves quotes. With the Kindle, I’m able to highlight freely without the fear of damaging my book and I’m able to revisit these highlighted portions easily at a touch of a button. It also has a dictionary function that tells you the meaning of a word just by highlighting it. Wizardry I tell you!

At the end of the day, I will still be visiting Kinokuniya regularly to see new arrivals and purchase a book or two, especially if they are by my favourite authors. But the Kindle is a great addition to my reading arsenal.

And it’s worth every penny!

Oh, what a Site!

The social media craze is alive and strong today and it’s not looking to die down any time soon. Just like with anything that becomes insanely popular, the capitalist nature in humans simply cannot resist monetising this venture. Social media has become such an effective marketing tool. Just when you think you can escape ads that have invaded your favourite spaces like YouTube and Facebook, it has even permeated Instagram with “sponsored” posts and product placement by influential accounts.

Nothing is sacred any more.

But perhaps nothing was sacred to begin with. With the developments of social media, I have ironically become more selective about the types of people I would follow and the types of websites I would read. I grew sick and tired of YouTubers raving about how *insert name of product* has CHANGED their life and then literally the next week *insert another product name* has changed their life AGAIN. Scroll down and you will find that everything was a LIE and it was all a #AD. Can you tell I’m bitter about this?

With this post, I would like to share my favourite Instagram accounts and websites. I’m excluding YouTube channels because my subscription list is out of hand. We will do a separate post on that entirely.

The bulk of these are fashion and beauty inspirations for me. However, I also enjoy photography accounts and lifestyle sites. The one thing I enjoy about all of them is that they have their own stylistic integrity and they do so despite the need to do sponsored posts or feature certain places or products. I don’t feel as if they are shoving ads down my throat as they are genuine in their creative endeavour.

1. Carmen Hamilton

A blogger for her own website and Vogue Australia. She is blonde, beautiful and incredibly stylish. Her style is relaxed but well-thought through. Also, she has a blogspot site that is just chic as hell. Who says blogspot is so “1999”? She also makes more flat chested ladies like me feel confident about my body image and shows me how I can look incredibly feminine, without the need to emphasise any cleavage and curves.

2. Gritty Pretty

Absolutely stunning website and Australia’s leading e-magazine. With the drop dead gorgeous Eleanor Pendleton as editor and publisher, the site oozes “chic”. The e-magazines are free for you to browse and they have quality articles and tasteful ads. I love e-magazines more and more as they are able to play around with gifs and moving images, which adds a dynamic quality to an article. Furthermore, if you are interested in any item they are featuring, you can simply click on the image to shop the product. Internet shoppers rejoice!

3. Jane Aldridge

Writer for the blog “sea of shoes”, one of the first fashion and style websites that I discovered and check religiously at the tender age of 15. Jane’s style is vintage and colourful, which is something I enjoy after a sea of monochromatic fashion shoots. I love her quirky style and her posts are simple and to the point with zero sponsorships. She genuinely loves sharing her fashion style and inspirations.

4. Weston James Palmer

A gorgeous human being with an Instagram feed and website that I am obsessed with. Weston is an artist, currently in LA (he also kinda looks like Jared Leto *yum*). His signature pink accents are everywhere in his designs, photographs and website. Its creative, inspiring and a visual pleasure. His videos are also done in the same style, with his comments handwritten on the screen. If you are having writer’s block or are experiencing a creative rut, check out his work and I guarantee it will get your creative juices going.

5. Anna

Anna excels at everything from her blog, Instagram page to her YouTube channel. I enjoy her blog most of all the three mentioned. Her articles are the right length, relatable, witty and with good quality photos. Great and mostly honest recommendations. I love her girl-next-door personality. She feels like an old friend, which is why we are all on a first name basis with her.

@viviannamakeup

And it’s a wrap!

All the names are clickable for your viewing pleasure. I highly suggest you check them out because they keep me inspired and give me hope that artistic integrity is still a thing, even when my YouTube subscription and Instagram feed is drowning in a tsunami of sellouts.

Viral Beasts.

Daaaaaaamn, Hanan. Back at it again with the sneaker posts!

That was a reference to the viral white vans meme that’s going around social media. A guy named Daniel got his friend to film his outfits for the week, and his friend commented, “Daaaamn, Daniel! Back at it again with the white vans”. I don’t understand how this video got so viral, but it’s blowing up. I am foreseeing that I will be writing about White Vans being a new trend very very soon.

Meanwhile…

Let’s talk about this ‘hypebeast’ trend that’s slowly but surely gaining popularity. I’m talking about the ASICS Gel Lyte Series.

DSC_3456

ASICS Gel Lyte Speed ‘Stealth Camo’ (SGD$229)

Aren’t these just stunning?! I first saw a pair in Perth and was intrigued by its unique shape and design. After a month or so, I began to see ASICS Gel Lytes popping up in stores like Leftfoot and Seek. More and more people started wearing them out and it was amazing to me because I have never really looked into ASICS as a brand before this series of sneakers came out.

ASICS are well known in the sports industry, particularly among runners for their impressive support and structure. Their trainers offer lightness without sacrificing durability whilst offering support for the feet. The main reason why I have never purchased one, or even glanced at their trainers was due to their classic “sporty” design. I would argue that their previous designs were rather dated. They would not catch your eye, looks-wise when they are stacked in a shelf with other competitor brands. Which is a real shame considering how coveted they are in the sports industry.

The main problem was that their sports shoes TRULY looked like sport shoes and they could not transcend that specific look. It was tough to integrate their previous designs into outfits. On the contrary, the ASICS Gel Lyte III and its variations (ie. Speed, etc) are versatile and much more up-to-date in terms of design. Once given the nod of approval from the Hypebeast team, you know these babies are gonna blow up.

DSC_3449

A unique quality to this series is the tongue, or rather the lack there of. It’s called the ‘split tongue’ design, unique to this brand. It’s not only a cool design feature, but also very practical as it’s easy to slip your feet in and out. They have quite a substantial midsole, meaning it will give you added boost in height. Whether you need it or not, that extra inch in height feels nice. They are also rather weighted, compared to other sneakers. You can definitely feel these on your feet, but that means it is also very durable.

With its sleek minimalistic design, it is the details that make these stand out. I love the understated leather ASICS logo on the side and the cool reflective accents on the laces. This particular pair was limited edition. It has a speckled design on the midsoles and a barely there camo gloss on suede and grey mesh. Its a great unisex sneaker that makes any outfit cool.

ASICS Gel Lytes tend to be more readily available for males and I had a difficult time finding a pair in female sizes. Fortunately, as they are gaining popularity, female sizes are becoming much easier to find. Its cool, edgy and sporty at the same time. Pair them with any outfit and make people go,

“Daaaaaaamn”

One Brush to Rule Them All.

I don’t know about you, but makeup is something I wear in order to give me confidence to face the day. When I do have a good makeup day, it automatically makes my day a 100 times better. And while the actual products we put on our faces play a huge role, the techniques and tools we use are equally important in ensuring that we always have a good makeup day.

The trickiest bit about makeup, I find, is eyeshadow. It is finicky and involve a good amount of effort in order to make things look effortless (the irony, I know). I would watch YouTube makeup tutorials trying to figure out how to best accentuate my eye shape, how to create the perfect smokey eye without looking like I’ve just been in a bar fight. These “gurus” would use countless brushes on their faces in order to achieve one look. And when you are a beginner, the whole thing is quite overwhelming.

I am here to tell you the secret to a perfect eye look.

DSC_3304

The ZOEVA 227 Soft Definer brush is the answer to your prayers.

It is the perfect brush for any eye shape and any type of eye look you are going for. And the best part is that, despite its amazing quality, you don’t have to break the bank (SGD$14.50). This is said to be the dupe to the famous MAC 217 blending brush. And while MAC brushes are good quality, you can buy a few ZOEVA Soft Definer brushes for the price of one MAC brush. Plus the brushes are almost identical.

The reason why these brushes are so popular are because of its versatile shape. The bristles are soft, yet dense enough to pick up the right amount of product. The slightly flat, tapered shape allows you to place product on the lid while still being fluffy enough to blend the colours out, in order to diffuse the product. You can wet this brush to create a stronger impact and more pigmented looks or use them dry for a light wash of colour for everyday.

It is perfection.

DSC_3295

I personally have at least a dozen of these so that I will always have a clean one ready. Most probably because I am too lazy to wash my brushes regularly, but it also convenient to have a clean one available to help with blending. It’s the secret to my most complicated looking eyeshadow looks. I strongly believe that anyone can be a makeup pro with this eyeshadow brush.

The ZOEVA 227 comes in a variety of bristle types. My personal favourite is the ‘Luxe‘ version, with natural bristles made out of goat hair. For those who prefer to work with cream eyeshadows, you might opt for the ‘Vegan‘ version that is made out of synthetic bristles, as they are stiffer and work better with creams. Both available at Sephora SG. Hence, it is very accessible.

If you are having trouble making your eyeshadows work, or if you can’t seem to be achieving that eye look you are envisioning in your head, you are probably missing this crucial tool to your makeup craft. Get this and I promise it will change your makeup life.

From beginner to pro, in a blink of an eye.

Into The Wild.

2016 isn’t too exciting for me on the gaming front, mostly sequels to already popular games. After watching some trailers, it all seemed like a bunch of “same old same old”.

Until this.

maxresdefaultfirewatch-1200

Firewatch is like the underdog that comes out of absolutely nowhere and knocks you out. You end up lying on the ground, wondering how you even got here. That was how I felt playing this game that released February 9th, available on Steam.

How the hell did I get this far into the game? How the hell did they make me so emotionally vested in this character? How are they making me open this giant can of FEELS?!

These were all questions that were running laps in my mind as I played.

Firewatch works like an indie PC game. It is a first person adventure type that emphasises a lot on the sensory experience, along with an strong storyline. The whole experience is not so much gaming to me. It’s more like being in a movie and you are playing the protagonist.

The setting is in the 80s, in Wyoming USA. You are Henry; a married man, with a messy personal history who decides to take up a summer job as a ranger in the woods to get away from “real life”. You hike to your tower and meet Delilah, your fellow neighbour in the next tower, via your handheld radio. The radio is your main line of communication. And it is your only connection to life outside your tower. There is a deep sense of loneliness and stillness. Your job is to keep the forest safe from fires, watching for smoke from your tower. Which seems simple enough until a fire unravelled a series of mysterious events that were happening to just you and Delilah. You explore the wilderness further, equipped with your handheld radio, compass and nerves of steel. The journey will make you learn more about yourself, your interpersonal relationships and cause you to make choices that will affect Henry’s path in life.

Visuals in this game are absolutely stunning, in the most underrated way possible. It doesn’t boast realism, or special 3D technology. It’s highly stylised and artistic, but very endearing and not at all intimidating. The game play is simplistic with heavy emphasis on the small choices the player makes.

The soundtrack is also well-done. With a plot driven game like this one, soundtrack plays a key role and this one made me feel all kinds of emotions. I was already an emotional wreck 15 minutes into the game. Together with the visuals, I felt calmness, loneliness and the fear of the unknown all at once. You are by yourself for most of the game and that makes it a very unique gaming experience.

To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much at all. The trailer was beautiful, but it didn’t get me excited. Currently, all the major gaming channels on YouTube are playing this game and doing walkthroughs. I’m sure PewDiePie will make this game very popular indeed. That was how it caught my attention. Word of advice : DO NOT WATCH THE WHOLE WALKTHROUGH.

Don’t do it. Don’t do this to yourself.

This is the type of game that needs to be experienced first hand. It is something that you have to go into blind, without knowing what to expect. Only then will you get the full, amazing, emotional experience that this game has to offer. In terms of “replay-ability”, it isn’t something you can keep playing again and again as there isn’t any levels to achieve or side missions to complete. In my opinion, it is still worth it, just for that virgin experience.

Firewatch is a breath of fresh air from the zombie apocalypses, alien invasions and war battles. It is so realistic from start to end. It’s almost as if it actually happened. I sat there with my heart in my throat, watching all my assumptions and expectations of this game go into flames.

I sat there and watched.

It was epic.

Aren’t we all Superstars?

I love people watching. And I don’t mean that in a creepy, “stalker-ish” manner. I mean it in a very laid-back, observant context. Perhaps sipping on a cup of coffee whilst gazing out a large glass window in a highly “Instagrammable” cafe.

Now that I have painted the setting, let’s move along.

Trends are one of those things that are constantly evolving. It’s what I both love and hate about being in a society. I love being a part of something and seeing the trends evolve and change with the times, but I also hate the generic mass-consumerism and bland public opinion that all of us tend to be influenced by. However, I also love seeing the trends that are different in different parts of the world, even though we can all agree that trends are translating internationally quicker than ever before.

Shoe trends are the Thing. It is an easy trend to pick up on and its something that you can add to your wardrobe easily, without changing your entire look or style. Remember the time when Supergas blew up the young adult scene and everyone started wearing them? Similar things have happened with Nike Roshe Runs a few years back. Currently, the “in” thing are these babies.

The Adidas Superstars!

Another popular one, in a similar design would be the Stan Smith editions, also by Adidas. Take a stroll around Orchard Road and you will see these everywhere nowadays. I could count at least 30 sightings of this pair or similar in a single trip to town.

These were very popular when I was in secondary school, eons ago and they are making a comeback. The Adidas Original range has been increasing in popularity again with their eye-catching designs on classic silhouettes. These Superstars are classic, sporty and chic. I’ve had this pair since I was young and it’s still going strong. The stiffer shoe material does make it a lot more durable. It’s also VERY basic. But that’s precisely why it is so popular.

An easy staple in anyone’s closet.

My favourite way to style this pair is with dark denim and a plain white T-shirt. It’s such a clean look; Presentable, even though I did not try very hard at all.

Throw on those Raybans I was talking about before in this post. And Boom!

You look like a superstar.

Magic Stick?

Hold up, Magic Mike! Because we got ourselves a new contender.

Mascara is one of those things that transforms a face. I personally cannot live without it. Usually for quick, minimal looks, I would even out the complexion, put on my brows and load up the mascara. I end up with a fresh, girly look without even trying.

The key to my kind of ‘minimal make-up look’ is mascara. Its the makeup item I obsess about and I am always game to try on a new mascara. We are all in search for that “perfect” mascara, aren’t we? I think I have found one.

The Nudestix Lengthening Mascara is a total underdog.

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

You don’t hear any buzz about this item as Nudestix is mostly known for their unique “stick” makeup, such as their lip pencils and eyeshadow sticks. With its unassuming packaging, a simple black tube, it often gets overlooked by the average shopper. But don’t overlook it again, ladies, because this mascara is AMAZING.

I, first heard of this mascara from Serein Wu, an American Youtube/Blogger. I was not born with thick, dark, fluttery lashes, much to my dismay. While my lashes are relatively long, they are really sparse and fall out a lot. Hence, I require a volumizing formula that is jet black and holds a curl, without clumping or making my lashes stick together. The Nudestix Mascara also boasts lash lengthening ingredients (ie. peptides) in its formula that help with the growth and strength of your lashes, the more you wear the product.

This is the ultimate selling point for me. I often fiddle with harsh mascaras that make my lashes feel brittle and ‘stick-like’, and some of my lashes break off whilst I remove these harsher mascaras. It helps me sleep better at night knowing that my lashes are being nourishes, even when I’m wearing makeup. And hey, who doesn’t want longer lashes?!

Another thing to note is that this mascara is amazing from the get-go. Most mascaras tend to perform better after it has been opened for a while as the formula gets dryer. But not this one. This is just two solid coats on my lashes. BEHOLD.

Before

DSCF7832

After

DSCF7844

I mean, what more could we want, really? Its fluttery and separated, plus its not a pain in the ass to take off at night. People comment on my lashes when I wear this mascara. That’s saying something considering that I have barely any lashes to begin with.

In terms of its “lash lengthening” claim, I will have to use this product for longer to determine its results. I can safely say that my lashes look a lot more nourished and less brittle from using this mascara daily.

Truly magical!

Lennon Vibes

How do we get from cringe to chic in less than 1 second?

Just put on a pair of these Raybans and you are good to go.

Processed with VSCOcam with hb2 preset

These babies are the Rayban Round Metal Sunglasses. They come in a total of 6 colours that vary in terms of frames and lens. The ones here are the gold frames with the classic green lens and they are perfection. I have been obsessing over these style of sunglasses ever since I saw them on the beautiful Carmen Hamilton, also known as @chroniclesofher_ in the Instagram world. If you aren’t following her, you should. She’s a gorgeous Australian blogger who blogs for her own site as well as Vogue Australia. This naturally means that her style is just impeccable.

After seeing them on her, I was obsessed with the look and hunted these pair down. Made in Italy, these Raybans feel a lot more delicate than the usual Wayfarers and definitely need a lot more care and attention. Hence, I can’t simply chuck these in the bag without its case, for fear of ruining the thin gold frames. They also do not block off the sun completely as sunlight does pass through the tops and sides of the lens. However, it does provide UV protection.

And goddamn, do they look chic.

Throw this on any outfit, even without any makeup on and you look like a million dollars. Perfect for any occasion and light as a feather, I barely notice having it on my face. This was a welcomed change from the heavier sunglasses I owned that tend to sit on my nose a little heavier, even touching my cheeks.

If you like simplicity and timeless designs, then look no further.

OBSESSED!

Anti-Aging Virgin

As someone in their mid twenties, teetering on the edge of late twenties, the concept of aging scares the crap out of me. I’m sure many young women out there feel me on this. Aging is certainly inevitable, so my main concern is not to prevent aging but instead to age as gracefully as possible.

A hero anti-aging ingredient that has been used for many years is retinol.

What is Retinol?

Retinol is basically vitamin A that is applied topically on the skin. Vitamin A helps with the renewal of skin cells and is a resurfacing agent to reveal brighter, younger skin. The strongest form out there is called Retin-A. However, that is prescription only. You will be able to get it from a dermatologist, depending on whether your dermatologist feels it is necessary. The side effects are quite extreme as the skin is likely to turn red and peel. The skin will also be highly photo-sensitive and thus, SPF is absolutely mandatory when using retin-A or a retinol product.

Retinol is the over-the-counter version and is much less potent than Retin-A. But that does not mean that it is any less effective in terms of its resurfacing capabilities. Granted that the side-effects are far less severe, and results are more gradual. Retinol is used for many purposes besides anti-aging. Some claim that it can help with acne as it helps the skin regenerate at a rapid rate and pores are more likely to shrink and be less prone to clogging. There has been many recorded successes in Retin-A and retinol products, helping people suffering from acne. However, it is still very subjective to the individual’s skin type and reaction to the product. Therefore, it isn’t the answer to all acne woes.

Side-effects of Retinol

Going back to anti-aging, I wanted to try a retinol product to keep my skin looking clear and plump as I age into my late twenties. After a bit of reading up, I was a little worried on the side effects that were mentioned by people. Many experienced skin sensitivity, redness and peeling. The scariest ones are the ones who had allergic reactions to retinol, or experienced “skin purging” with cystic acne. At the same time, there are many who praise it to the heavens and say that the side-effects are worth it for the end result.

Best Product for an Anti-Aging Virgin

Processed with VSCOcam with a5 preset

I present to you Dr Dennis Gross Ferulic + Retinol Brightening Solution. This is GODSEND for someone dipping their toes into the anti-aging skincare front. Dr Dennis Gross combines ferulic acid which is an amazing antioxidant with the resurfacing power of retinol to create the perfect facial cocktail. The ferulic acid helps brighten the skin, helping create a more even canvas while the retinol refines texture and helps the skin regenerate. This powerful cocktail is water-based, making it perfect for all skin types, even oily. It sinks in quickly and is an easy addition to your current skincare routine. This solution also has salicylic acid and glycolic acid to target troubled skin and help exfoliate.

I was initially really confused when I opened the package and saw some cotton pads that came along with it. I believe you can soak the cotton pads with the product for a more saturated and exfoliating application. But I ditched the the pads as I felt that it would waste too much product. And considering that this is expensive, I was not going to waste a drop!

Results

After using it consistently for over 8 months, I am just about done with my bottle (30ml). I used it daily before my moisturiser and after my toner at night and made sure that I wore SPF in the morning. My skin is definitely more even toned, brighter and it helps clear acne scars a lot more quickly. It did not break me out at all, even with my acne-prone skin (THANK YOU, water-based formula), and I did not experience any of the side-effects that retinol products usually give.

*Keep in mind that I have been using AHAs and chemical exfoliants for many years to help combat my acne. So my skin might be more resilient than some.

I love this product so much! It really helps with the overall texture and appearance of my skin. My pores are less visible and my complexion is more luminous. However, if you are looking for a retinol product to help with acne, I don’t think this is a product for you as it did not help me clear up my acne break-outs. But what I can definitely vouch for is how bright and youthful my skin looked after using this product consistently. Thus, I think its perfect for retinol virgins!

The age of grace is upon us!
